We have a friend in Oliva who had a hand mixed concrete plinth installed when she had a 2.4 dish installed and the base snapped in half after just 18 months, and with two small kids we could not take any chances.

We had a 1.9 Famaval satellite dish installed and shared the cost with next door, we both opted for the FREESAT HD boxes that unlock the sky card as we both have SKY TV in the UK and only spend 3 months a year in Spain and could not see the point in paying two subscriptions. The satellite installers where on time, where both very polite and somehow managed to carry these big heavy concrete blocks up on to our roof to secure the dish, another satellite engineer that had given us a quotation had suggested that a hand mixed concrete plinth was enough, however when Jason from MRSKYTV.COM come to carry out the survey he explained that they used these big concrete feet to make a base and they are guaranteed for ten years we decided this was the best option. We are so happy as one of the houses on the urbanization behind us had a hand mixed concrete plinth used to secure there dish and it had fallen over in the recent storm. I have no idea how much those concrete blocks must weigh but the two lads managed to carry them up to our roof and then concreted them in to create a solid base that would never move. We where not charged any extra for the concrete base.

We had the 2.4 dish installed so insisted that the concrete base be constructed using the concrete blocks as we had read about another installer using hand mixed concrete and we did not want to take any chances, I did a google search for "the best concrete bases in Spain" and found mrskytv.com. .Apart from the issue with the faulty magic eye, the installation went smoothly, we decided on a SKY+HD box and UK SKY card for the living room and a Freeesat HD box in three other rooms, my elderly Mother always comes to stay in November through to March to escape the UK weather so she can now bring her UK sky card with her and use it in the box in the Granny annex, we also purchased a new HD TV for her flat that the guys kindly hung on the wall.
I have already given your number to several Golf buddies that want you to change there concrete bases so they have those special concrete blocks, I suspect the reason other so called satellite engineers do not want to use them is that they must weigh a ton and getting them up three stories to our roof was physically exhausting for the two installers Jason & Kane, although I think the bacon sandwiches helped. Well done guys.
